World Traditional Medicine Fair & Festival in Sancheong , Korea 2013 – " Beyond integration: reflection on Asian medicines in the 21st century"

Sancheong is a beautiful place and well-known on its hundred years old trees, the purest mountain water, and a sky as blue robin's egg. Heo Jun, a very famous Korean traditional medical doctor, the chief writer of Donguibogam was born in Sancheong. Donguibogam, the first public health medical book that has been registered for the UNESCO's Memory of the World Program in 2009.

To celebrate the 400th anniversary of the publication of Korean traditional medical book Donguibogam and its registration to the UNESCO's Memory of the World program, the Ministry of Health and Welfare, Gyeongsangnam-do province, and Sancheong-gun co-host the 2013 Sancheong World Traditional Medical Fair and Festival from Sep 6 to Oct 20 ,2013 in Sancheong-gun. With the theme of " Traditional Medicine: Great Treasure for the future," the Fair and Festival will offer various events, including exhibitions, academic forums, global medical cooking contest, and experience events. The Fair and Festival expects about 1.7 million visitors from over 30 countries, including 75,000 foreigners.

The Donguibogam village, the venue of the Fair, is the Mecca of Oriental medicine in Korea and is promoted as a traditional medical tourist site. The Fair features eight exhibition halls, including the Yakseon Food Pavilion, Healing Town, Qi (Energy) Experience Hall, and Wild Herb Ecology Hall. The Fair will be a good opportunity to closely look into the current integrative medicine zeal of the world and to discuss the essence and superiority of traditional medicine of each Asian nation.

After visiting the Fair's various facilities, visitors can take part in hands-on programs to make medical cosmetics, wild herb soap, or have a foot bath. They can also enjoy a wild herb bath, traditional restaurants, and Oriental clinics to learn more about the effects of traditional Oriental medicine.

「2013山清世界傳統醫藥博覽會」將於二零一三年九月六日至十月二十日在韓國慶尚南道山清郡舉行。山清郡是土壤肥沃、空氣清新、水源潔淨的人間樂土。境內的智異山是韓國五大名山之一,亦是韓國第一座國立公園,更被CNN選為五十個韓國必遊景點之一。

韓劇「大長今」、「醫道」等甚受觀眾歡迎,而利用韓醫藥學治病救人的歷史悠久,「大長今」劇中常出現的各類藥膳材料有不少是來自山清的天然藥材,而「醫道」中的許浚便是在山清土生土長,並在當地跟其師傅「柳義泰」學習醫術的地方。此外,今年適逢是朝鮮時代著名的醫學著作《東醫寶鑑》發行四百周年,因此在山清舉行「2013山清世界傳統醫藥博覽會」是適時適地之舉,甚富意義!

該博覽會以傳統醫藥為主題,並設有八個主題展館,包括東醫寶鑑館、藥草生態館、藥膳文化館、韓方氣體驗館、交流‧產業館、康復村、主題館等。主辦單位預料這個有三十個國家參展的博覽會將會吸引一百七十萬人次(其中七萬五千人次來自國外)的觀眾參觀。

由於該博覽會是一個高水平、高規格的博覽會,將會是弘揚韓醫藥學的好機會,也是業界交流觀摩的上佳場合,更是一個追求安康、快樂、健康的人類健康盛會,因此不容錯過!
